Rev. Alexander Arellano, CP was ordained to the priesthood last January 28 by Bishop Dinualdo Gutierrez, Bishop of Marbel, at Holy Cross Parish, Calumpang, Gen. Santos City.
A proud Sarangan, Fr. Alex was a Lay Cooperator (Layco) at the Catolic Mission to the Indigenous Peoples (CMIP) before he entered the Passionist seminary. Such exposure with different priests and their ministry, “Amay,” as he is fondly called, was inspired to be a Passionist.
It was not easy becoming a priest. “I thought I would not become a priest after the long delays of my priestly ordination. But God is good. He taught me to become more patient and faithful to Him as He is to me. God really wants me to be a Passionist priest,” says Fr. Alex in his thanksgiving speech.
The said event was attended by hundreds of excited parishioners. Many Passionist and Diocesan priests graced the ordination too.
Fr. Alex will report to his new assignment in Bataan after his thanksgiving masses in the different Passionist communities this February.
